In the Spring of 2016, I made a friend through the Orem City League team that told me to try out for the BYU team. I didn’t know how much that would change my life. The guys on the BYU CHI team are phenomenal athletes and even more phenomenal people and I’ve loved every second I get to be with them because they lift me up and believe in me. They make me want to be the best person I can possibly be, and that’s something I haven’t found in very many areas of my life.
I also love the work ethic of the team, where everyone, no matter who they are or what their skills are, push themselves and their teammates to be better athletes. I think a very important contributor to the team last year was OWN IT Fitness and Keyyan Arshad, our lifting coach. He has been one of my biggest role models in my life and it’s been amazing to have him as a coach.
I feel like this year will be a defining moment for the BYU CHI team. We have a lot of returning players and a lot of new athletes wanting to make their mark on the team. We have great coaches who do so much for us, as well as the former BYU players who started the team and started this wonderful program.
I don’t know what my vision of this season will be, I hope we play better than we ever have before, and that we can progress our Frisbee skills beyond what they have been in the past. We definitely have the potential, but it’s up to the entire team, each one of us, to reach that potential and push past it. This year will be an amazing year, I can’t describe how excited I am for it!
